1. Who was Gregor Mendel? What is he known for?

2. What is the Law of Segregation? Use an example to explain.

3. What do we mean when we refer to something as a "pure" breed or as a "true" breed?

10. What is pleiotropy? Use an example to explain.

11. What is the difference between penetrance versus expressivity? Use an example to explain.
[NOTE: I found an online article that provides a broad overview about the Autosomal Dominant nature of polydactyly: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_g2601/is_0010/ai_2601001089].

12. Can the environment affect gene expression? Use an example to explain.

KIT CORNER: PARP ASSAY KIT

1. What is the role of PARP-1 in the nucleus of cells?

2. Describe how the kit is used to measure the activity of PARP-1. Include in your answer: histone-coated strip wells, source of PARP-1, biotinylated NAD+, strepavidin-linked HRP, and HRP substrate.
